Last night I attended the Stafford County Volunteer EMS and Fire Recruit Academy graduation held at Stafford Senior High School. This night celebrated the time and efforts of the students on their completion of over 150 hours of classroom and skills time that started in January. The Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue squad had students in both classes. Congratulation to Matt Bingham and Garrett Casey for completed the Fire Academy. On the EMS side; Congratulations to Nelson Bruni, Ellenah Garcia, and Vincent Snell. Ellenah was named Top EMS Recruit for she scholarship, skills and assessments by the Instructors. The EMS students have studied and practiced how to treat patients with many different conditions; anything from a viral illness to diabetes to to strokes to respiratory illness. They have also trained for trauma patients with injuries such as broken bones to lacerations, head injuries, motor vehicle crashes and even mass casualty incidents. They have put in the time to start a new adventure and we look forward to having them on our units.
