The volunteer members of the Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue Squad, Potomac Hills Volunteer Station 10, and Kohl's Department Store hosted over 160 children and their parents at the annual "Save Your Heart for Love" first aid mini- course for children. The event was held to celebrate National EMS for Children Day as part of National EMS Week. On Wednesday, May 20th the parking lot at Kohl's was turned into a classroom with stations for the children to learn how to control bleeding, take a pulse, open an airway, learn the Heimlich maneuver, proper use of 911, poison prevention, bike safety and fire and burn safety. After completing the bike safety station children were fitted with a free bike helmet. The bike helmets were purchased from a grant from Kohl's. In addition to the funds, Kohl's also provided 7 associates to assist with the teaching stations and registration. Special thanks to all those who helped.
