Stafford County Fire Rescue Department celebrated the department’s accomplishments at a dinner last month. Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue members were among those receiving awards. Junior Member of the Year went to Caleigh Jett, who has been with the squad since November of 2022. Caleigh is a high school senior and EMT. She is active running duty on the ambulance and helping with Community Outreach programs.
Chief Joseph Cardello awarded the Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician of the Year to Sergio Alvarez, paramedic and EVOC driver at the squad meeting on April 10th. He has been with the squad just over a year, but has made a difference in that short time, running duty and also teaching classes for the squad and updating our orientation process.
Natasha Roberts, EMT and our treasurer passed Firefighter I class. She continues in the Firefighter II class that will end next month. Congratulations on your hard work, Tasha!
Mark the Date: Tuesday, May 14th time: 5 and 8pm community engagement/Food truck event at the Mountain View Volunteer Rescue Squad located on the corner of Mountain View Road and Kellogg Mill Road. It is sponsored by the Recruitment and Retention Committee, a part of all the Volunteer Fire Rescue Organizations in the County. There will be fire trucks and ambulances for touring, a DJ, face painting, the Animal Shelter will be there with some kittens for adoptions, the Rappahannock Community Service Board will be there with Narcan information and teaching. Our Squad, AHVRS, will be fitting the kids with free bike helmets once again. Fire Escape Burgers will have food available for purchase and there will be ice cream.
The squad accumulated over 1300 hours last month in duties, attending classes and community outreach events. Thank you for your support!
